Stainless Steel Tanks for Oil, Gas and Ethanol

Energy processing is where material selection stops being a preference and becomes a design decision. Tell us what is in the tank and we will tell you which grade we would build it from.

What we supply

What Swhift provides for oil, gas & ethanol

  • Custom pressure tanks in vertical and horizontal configurations
  • Vacuum tanks built with an upgraded shell
  • Process and holding vessels built to your drawing
  • Extraction and separation vessels
  • Custom stainless components and replacement parts

Material

Why stainless suits this work

316 adds molybdenum to the alloy, which improves resistance to chlorides and to a range of process chemistry that 304 handles less well. Both grades are available on every vessel we build.

Stainless does not require the internal coating that carbon steel needs for many of these services, which removes a maintenance item and a failure point.

Welded stainless construction gives a continuous, inspectable joint rather than a mechanical seal that relies on a gasket.

Options

What can be customised

  • 304 or 316 stainless to suit the process chemistry
  • Pressure test to 135, 150, 175 or 300 psi, or a custom test pressure
  • Vacuum-rated construction where the service requires it
  • Saddles, legs, gussets and ring bases
  • Ports, instrumentation connections and manways to your drawing

Getting started

How to start a project

  1. 1Describe the applicationWhat the vessel holds, how much of it, and the temperature and pressure it sees. If you do not know all of that yet, tell us what you do know.
  2. 2Send dimensions or a drawingA layout sheet, a CAD file, a sketch or a photo of the space with measurements — any of these work. Our layout sheets are free to download.
  3. 3We quote and confirmGrade, finish, pressure test and fitting locations get confirmed in writing before anything is cut.

Not sure what to send? Our quote checklist lists everything that helps, and marks what is genuinely optional.

Oil, Gas & Ethanol: common questions

Do you build to ASME code?

Our published product line is built to our own standard construction and pressure-test practice, and our pressure-test options and shell gauges are documented on our size charts and layout sheets. If your project requires code stamping, tell us before you order so we can give you a straight answer rather than a surprise.

How do I specify a vessel for a specific chemistry?

Send the process fluid, concentration, temperature and pressure with your quote request. Material grade, wall thickness and fitting selection all follow from that, and getting it in writing up front is the fastest route to an accurate quote.

Can you build vessels that hold both pressure and vacuum?

Yes, when it is specified from the start. Give us both the internal pressure and the vacuum level and we will build for the pair.

Building for oil, gas & ethanol?

Send the application, the capacity and the space. We will recommend a product and quote it — and tell you if a stock size gets you there for less.

Consultations are free. Every project is managed by a single production manager, so you talk to the person who knows your job.
