Stainless Steel Tanks for Water and Wastewater

Water treatment is the largest part of what leaves our shop. Contact tanks, softener vessels, storage and pressure tanks — stock sizes off the chart, or built to your system drawing.

What we supply

What Swhift provides for water & wastewater

  • Custom ozone contact tanks sized to your contact time
  • Softener tanks with standard threaded openings and a ring base
  • Pressure tanks in stock diameters from 9-5/8 in. to 60 in.
  • Rectangular non-pressure storage from 55 to 3,231 gallons
  • Vessels built to fit an existing treatment skid
  • Replacement tanks for installed systems

Material

Why stainless suits this work

Ozone is a strong oxidiser that degrades many plastics and elastomers over time. Stainless holds up in continuous ozone service, which is why it is the usual choice for the contact vessel.

Our materials are FDA-approved, tasteless and odorless, so a tank in a potable water train does not affect what comes out of it.

A stainless tank has no lining to chip and no anode to replace, which removes two of the routine maintenance items on a coated or glass-lined vessel.

Grade choice tracks water chemistry: our warranty covers T-304 up to 1.5 ppm chlorine and T-316 up to 8 ppm.

  • 304 or 316 stainless matched to your water chemistry
  • Pressure or non-pressure construction
  • Injection, vent, drain and sample ports to your drawing
  • Vessels dimensioned to fit an existing skid or plant room

Getting started

How to start a project

  1. 1Describe the applicationWhat the vessel holds, how much of it, and the temperature and pressure it sees. If you do not know all of that yet, tell us what you do know.
  2. 2Send dimensions or a drawingA layout sheet, a CAD file, a sketch or a photo of the space with measurements — any of these work. Our layout sheets are free to download.
  3. 3We quote and confirmGrade, finish, pressure test and fitting locations get confirmed in writing before anything is cut.

Not sure what to send? Our quote checklist lists everything that helps, and marks what is genuinely optional.

Water & Wastewater: common questions

How do I size an ozone contact tank?

Volume comes from design flow rate multiplied by the contact time your treatment scheme requires. Give us both figures and we will size the vessel. Our tank volume calculator will get you a rough starting point if you are still scoping the system.

Do you publish your standard sizes?

Yes, and it is worth using them. Our pressure tank chart lists every stock diameter and length with gallons, weight and gallons-per-inch; the rectangular chart does the same for non-pressure tanks. A stock size is normally the fastest and least expensive route.

Can you build to fit an existing treatment skid?

Yes. Send the skid drawing or the envelope you have available, along with the port locations, and we will build the vessel to fit it.

What warranty comes with a water treatment tank?

Five years on pressure tanks and ten years on non-pressure tanks, subject to the conditions in our written warranty — including chlorine limits by grade and the requirement that pressure tanks run behind a properly set relief valve.

Building for water & wastewater?

Send the application, the capacity and the space. We will recommend a product and quote it — and tell you if a stock size gets you there for less.

Consultations are free. Every project is managed by a single production manager, so you talk to the person who knows your job.
